Legislative Alert

More police in schools means more kids with disabilities in jail!

Tell Congress how to address school safety in the wake of the Newtown tragedy.  Help us keep the pressure on!

Give your member this message:  Police and guns will have a negative impact on students with disabilities and is not the solution.  Evidence-based practices improve school climate and adding supports such as access to school-based mental health personnel are a critical part of any school safety plan. Providing more police, as often happens now, without training or clear guidance on their responsibilities on top of adding more guns in schools will have unintended consequences.

You can reach your members of Congress by calling the Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 or entering your zip code in the box to the right..
